The Achievement Gap

1) What do you think causes the achievement gap?
I think that the students spend time doing things on other stuff and don't spend time doing more for their education.

2) What can students do to close the gap?
Students can spend less time watching tv and more time on studying.
Internet is also taking time away from studying or doing something that could benefit them.

3) What can parents do?
They can teach their children how they can use things they learn in school in real life. They can help their child with their homework as much as they can.

4) What can teachers/schools do?
They can have teachers set aside time for students to come atfer or before school for help. Have classes that help students with their main classes.

Questions about Mr. Hayden.

What did you think of Mr. Hayden?
I think that he is someone who knows more than an he looks like.

Tom Hayden does not see himself as a civil rights leader. Do you see him as one?Why or why not?
I'd say he is because he is someone who was able to do something about the war. He wanted to protest about it and was able to get people to protest with him.

Tom Hayden feels that leaders are not as important as the hundreds of thousands of people behind them. What does he mean by that?
I think he means that the people are the ones that are doing the work necessary to get things done. Leaders are only there to give them direction.
